Just Jesus Assembly was founded out of a deep burden and divine vision carried by Bishop Norman Jonah to establish a church that would exalt Jesus Christ as the sole focus of worship, teaching, and ministry. From its earliest days, the church was built on the conviction that true transformation comes from encountering “Just Jesus”—His grace, His power, and His presence.
The ministry began humbly with a small group of faithful believers gathering in homes and rented spaces in Port Harcourt. Driven by a passion to see lives transformed and destinies fulfilled, these early members devoted themselves to prayer, worship, and the study of God’s Word. The simplicity and purity of the church’s message attracted seekers, new believers, and mature Christians longing for authentic fellowship.
Recognizing the need for structured leadership and growth, Bishop Norman Jonah, alongside his wife, Rev. (Mrs.) Victoria Norman Jonah, began to organize ministries and departments that would nurture spiritual growth and community engagement. Their shared vision was clear: to build a church where every member is empowered to live purposefully and fulfill their God-ordained destiny.
Over the years, Just Jesus Assembly experienced steady growth. The church moved into larger facilities to accommodate the increasing attendance and expanded its ministries to include vibrant children’s programs, youth fellowships, men’s and women’s ministries, and outreach initiatives that serve the community.
The Eagle’s Nest House Fellowship system was introduced as a way to foster deeper fellowship, accountability, and discipleship through smaller, more intimate groups. This model enabled members to connect, grow, and support one another beyond Sunday services, building a strong foundation for personal and spiritual development.
The leadership structure of Just Jesus Assembly was carefully developed to promote transparency, unity, and effective ministry. The Advisory Board, comprising seasoned ministers and community leaders, was established to provide wisdom, counsel, and strategic oversight. The Pastorate and Heads of Department were appointed to oversee various facets of ministry, ensuring excellence in worship, teaching, administration, and outreach.
Bishop Norman Jonah’s leadership has been marked by a commitment to holiness, sound doctrine, and pastoral care, while Rev. Mrs. Victoria Norman Jonah has been a cornerstone in women’s ministry, mentorship, and community support. Together, they have nurtured a culture of servant leadership and spiritual maturity.
Just Jesus Assembly has become a beacon of hope and transformation in Port Harcourt and beyond. The church actively engages in outreach programs, supporting vulnerable populations, providing education, and running evangelistic campaigns that bring the Gospel to the streets and homes of many.
The church’s media ministry, including online sermons and social media engagement, extends its reach globally, impacting lives far beyond its physical location. Members are encouraged to live out their faith boldly in their workplaces, schools, and neighborhoods, reflecting the church’s vision to build destinies on God’s covenant.
Today, Just Jesus Assembly continues to grow in numbers, spiritual depth, and influence. It remains committed to raising a generation of Christ-centered leaders who are grounded in Scripture and empowered by the Holy Spirit. The church’s ongoing projects include expanding its facilities, enhancing its media presence, and launching new ministries tailored to meet the evolving needs of the congregation and community.
With a firm foundation and an unwavering focus on “Just Jesus,” the Assembly looks forward to a future filled with greater impact, deeper discipleship, and widespread kingdom advancement.
